How to set wireless encryption to WPA/WPA2 |
Back to home |
By default, the O2 Wireless Box II/III is shipped with WEP wireless encryption enabled. Although this is better than no encryption, it has been compromised and is not considered secure enough by many people.
In order to change your wireless encryption to WPA or WPA2, follow the instructions below.
1) Click http://192.168.1.254/ . If you are prompted for a login the username is "Administrator" and the password is the serial number of your router (printed on its underside, excluding the bit in brackets).
2) Click: Home Network > WLAN
3) Click "Configure" (top-right of screen).
4) Click "Use WPA-PSK Encryption".
5) Enter a long, obscure key into the "WPA-PSK Encryption Key" box (optional, but recommended). Make a note of it!
6) Select WPA2 from the "WPA-PSK Version" dropdown menu (optional, but recommended).
7) Click Apply.
Your wireless network is now configured with WPA/WPA2 security.
Please note: your computers are probably still configured to use WEP encryption with the old key. You will need to change the encryption to WPA/WPA2 and update the key (if applicable) before you can connect again.
