How to change your wireless channel |
Back to home |
By default, the O2 Wireless Box II/III/IV selects its wireless channel automatically. However, if the channel it picks is shared by other devices, wireless performance can be poor or non-existent. The solution is to find a wireless channel which is unused, and set the O2 router to use it.
To find an unused wireless channel, you need a piece of software to scan the airwaves. One such software is inSSIDer.
Once you have found a free channel, follow the steps below to configure your router.
1) Click http://192.168.1.254/. If you are prompted for a login the username is "Administrator" and the password is the serial number of your router (printed on its underside, excluding the bit in brackets).
2) Click: Home Network > WLAN
3) Click Configure (top-right of screen).
4) Click the dropdown list next to "Channel Selection" and select Manual.
5) Click the dropdown list next to Channel and select an unused channel.
6) Click Apply.
Your wireless network will now be broadcasting on your selected channel.
