How to set up parental controls |
Back to home |
Although O2 recommends the use of the supplied McAfee software for parental controls, the Wireless Box II/III/IV has basic parental controls built-in. Read below on how to block, for this example, Facebook.
Please note: Newer firmware versions have removed the parental control facility from the router. You will need to use the Parental Control facility in Windows, the O2-supplied McAfee software or another third-party solution.
1) Open your router's interface by visiting http://192.168.1.254/. If you are prompted for a login the username is "Administrator" and the password is the serial number of your router (printed on its underside, excluding the bit in brackets).
2) Click: Toolbox > Switch User
3) In the dialog box type username "SuperUser". The password is either "O2Br0ad64nd" or the serial number of your router (printed on its underside, excluding the bit in brackets). Due to a bug in the router you may have to enter it twice.
4) Click: Parental Control
5) Click Configure, located at the top-right of the screen.
6) Tick the box marked "Use Address Based Filter". Click Apply.
7) Click Configure, located at the top-right of the screen.
8) In the lower table, type facebook.com into the "Web Site" box. Click Add.
Access to Facebook will now be blocked. If a user tries to load Facebook, they will get an "Access Denied" message.
