How to get your computer's IP address via DHCP

Back to home

If you have statically configured your computer's IP address in the past, you may find you are unable to connect to the O2 Wireless Box II/III/IV until you set it to obtain its IP address automatically. This is because your computer's static IP address may not match the range of the router's subnet.

The following instructions tell you how to set your IP address in Windows.

1) Click Start > Control Panel > View Network Status and Tasks.

dhcp

2) Click "Manage network connections".

dhcp

3) Double-click your computer's "Local Area Connection" or "Wireless Network Connection" icon.

4) Click Properties.

dhcp

5) Select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click Properties.

dhcp

6) Click "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically".

dhcp

7) Click OK, OK and Close.

Your computer should now obtain an IP address from the O2 router via DHCP. If you still cannot connect, try rebooting the computer.
